I am a Mesa, Arizona Native. My entire childhood was spent smelling the undeniably sweet orange blossoms and the contrasting tang of Lindsey and Brown’s dairy. It was here that my understanding of leadership began. I learned valuable skills of leadership and personal responsibility firsthand from some of Mesa’s most remarkable people. My father believed that the greatest skills in life are learned by doing. No summer day went by that I did not have sweat on my brow and dirt on my hands. My childhood was filled with constant work. My father’s efforts to instill a solid work ethic taught me that all great tasks take time, effort and most importantly teamwork. The greatest efforts in life require people to unite, not divide. Willingness to work is the first principle I have based my life on. I believe firmly that willingness to act is the greatest determiner of success, not age, experience, or wealth. Those who know me, can attest to my dedication to hard work and my constant willingness to serve. I am committed to the belief that it is always best to be the first to volunteer and the last to quit.
I am not only the product of Mesa Public Schools but the product of great teachers; because of them I am and will always be an avid student, I developed a love for knowledge and truth that guide me daily. Mesa’s teachers not only taught me Math, Science, and Literature; but they taught me how to be a good person and citizen. Their examples set me on path to obtain a higher education that has and will continue to be an undeniable asset for years to come.
When I was attending ASU, someone told me that the most important thing you can do for someone is to put them to work doing something they can be proud of. This has been my career's motto. I have found great love for entrepreneurship and small business. I have started businesses from scratch, I have purchased and sold business but I'm most proud of the jobs I have created. My businesses have created over 20 active and sustainable jobs in Mesa alone. I believe in business, and I intend to be a job creator my entire life. No other aspect of business brings me greater satisfaction than that of creating a sustainable job that someone can be proud of.
My business success and accomplishments will always be second to and be dwarfed in comparison to the joys of being a faithful husband and father. I am proud to be the husband to such an intelligent and capable woman, she is noteworthy in every way and guides our family with grace and compassion. She and I teach our children that the family is a team, each member with their own unique contributions and skills, each valuable and worthy in their own right. My wife and children will always be my greatest treasure and proudest accomplishment.
One of the greatest parts about growing up and raising my own children in Arizona is being so close to nature. We are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth with lush deserts, high mountains and deep canyons. Access to our rivers and lakes has allowed me to find peace and serenity in my life. Each time I canoe our rivers or camp in our forests, I am reminded of the necessity to have balance in our lives. I love everything about Arizona’s rugged beauty, I am grateful to be able to share its majestic grandeur with my children.
